Blog #2: Design

My background reflects how I want people to feel when they are on my blog. I don’t want them to feel sad or boring; I wanted to give off a vibrant happy feeling. I wanted the feeling to convey as warm and calming as possible, yet excite the readers mind so as to not make it boring. All of the colors together perfectly describe the mood I am trying to get across. A color psychology article online described how colors generally make people feel.  “Pink is thought to have a calming effect.” “Orange calls to mind feelings of excitement, enthusiasm, and warmth.”  “Red is associated with love, warmth, and comfort.” “Yellow is a bright that is often described as cheery and warm.”
My fonts were specifically chosen to complement my background. The font conveys an informal yet light feeling. The background already shows warmth and happiness so I wanted my font to convey a relaxed setting. I want people to feel like it is a relaxed, light setting that they don’t have to feel formal in. Often formality makes people feel bored and I want people to feel comfortable. The picture to the right helped me pick my font choice, from a website article called “Establish a Mood with Typography”.  The website says, “Keep in mind that establishing mood and feeling is pretty complex and can come across differently based on each person’s experiences.” Thinking about that, I tried to make the feeling as universal as I could so that everybody would feel what I am trying to convey.
